Tokyo designer Junya Watanabe showed an incredible collection at the Natural History Museum on Saturday morning during Paris Fashion Week.

The look: Tokyo Pocahontas.

Key pieces: Shredded, braided and fringed draped jersey or suede tops, dresses, ponchos and long skirts. Tailored duster coats and cape-jackets with stringy, shredded bodices. Cropped jeans and pants with fringed hems. Sculpted dreadlock wigs and studded cowboy booties added to the tribal beat.

The verdict: Proof of what genius can come from laser focusing on a single concept, in this case the basic, DIY shredded T-shirt, then twisting, refining and elevating it to an art form.
