Los 49ers de San Francisco aseguraron su lugar en postemporada al derrotar 27-24 en tiempo extra a los Rams de Los Ángeles, campeones de la División Oeste de la Conferencia Nacional, gracias al gol de campo de 24 yardas de Robbie Gould a 2:45 del final y a una intercepción de Ambry Thomas que sentenció el partido.

Jauan Jennings atrapó un pase de touchdown de 14 yardas de Jimmy Garoppolo a 26 segundos del final del tiempo regular por los 49ers (10-7), que están en postemporada por apenas la segunda ocasión en ocho años.

San Francisco borró una desventaja temprana de 17 unidades para su sexta victoria consecutiva sobre los Rams (12-5), que aseguraron el título divisional gracias al triunfo de Seattle sobre Arizona.
