MONDAY

A long time ago, in a bakery far, far away... “Cake Wars.” Top-shelf bakers vie for a cool 10 grand in this new reality competition. 8 p.m. Food Network

The new documentary “Larry Kramer in Love and Anger” profiles the gay-rights activist and award-winning playwright who penned the AIDS-themed drama “The Normal Heart.” 9 p.m. HBO

Are we our brothers’ keepers? One North Dakota pastor believes so, and so opens his church’s doors to folks who are struggling to find work in the documentary “The Overnighters” airing on “POV.” 10 p.m. KOCE

“Teen Wolf” comes howling back with a two-night season premiere. Tyler Posey stars. 10 p.m. MTV; also 9 p.m. Tue.

Superstar athletes like Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin, NBA great Scottie Pippen and Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski take on all comers in the new reality series “Beat the Champions.” 8 p.m. Fox

Welcome to the jungle! Animals may be trying to take the planet back from us humans in the new drama “Zoo.” James Wolk, Kristen Connolly and Billy Burke star. 9 p.m. CBS

A double episode of the anthropologically minded series “First Peoples” considers what life was like for the prehistoric inhabitants of Asia and Australia. 9 p.m. KOCE

Looks like it’s up to Molly (Oscar winner Halle Berry) and a mysterious stranger (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) to save the human race — but hey, no pressure — on a new season of the Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi drama “Extant.” 10 p.m. CBS

THURSDAY

A slate of vintage Disney films includes the animated shorts “Hawaiian Holiday,” “Beach Picnic” and “The Simple Things,” plus 1957’s live-action Revolutionary War tale “Johnny Tremain.” 5, 5:10, 5:20 and 5:30 p.m. TCM

“Food Fighters” are back at it for a second season of this culinary challenge hosted by Adam Richman. 8 p.m. NBC

FRIDAY

A seasonally inappropriate celebration of film noir continues with a big batch of flicks including 1948’s “The Big Clock” starring Ray Milland and Charles Laughton. 5 p.m. TCM

“Monumentals Mysteries” is now “Mysteries at the Monument.” Either way, host Don Wildman is in London in the series’ season premiere. 9 p.m. Travel Channel

SATURDAY

Kelly Clarkson brings the vocal fireworks for “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular.” Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Flo Rida and Meghan Trainor also perform. 8 p.m. NBC

It’s like the 1970s all over again when Barry Manilow and KC and the Sunshine Band help celebrate America’s birthday on “A Capitol Fourth.” 8 p.m. KOCE

Mexican folklore comes eye-poppingly to life in the animated 2014 fable “The Book of Life” featuring the voices of Diego Luna, Zoe Saldana and Channing Tatum. 8 p.m. HBO
