As last week’s Paris attacks dominate the news coverage, PBS’ “Frontline†is offering a closer look at the group claiming responsibility for the violence.

In “ISIS in Afghanistan,†the news documentary series offers a portrait of how the Islamic State - most often associated with the Syrian civil war - has taken hold in Afghanistan. Islamic State, also known as ISIS or Daesh, said it was behind Friday’s terror outbreak in France.

The “Frontline†documentary will air Tuesday on many PBS stations, including at 10 p.m. on PBS SoCal.

Najibullah Quraishi, the journalist behind “ISIS in Afghanistan,†returned with footage of militants training children as young as 3 in the terror tactics used by the group.

This isn’t the first “Frontline†documentary to offer a detailed look at ISIS. A report last year examined the group’s rise. Early this year, “Frontline†reported on government-controlled areas of Syria. And another report told the stories of women who had escaped from ISIS.
