The trademark suspenders wooed Russia: Larry King has signed on to host a new TV show for a Russian cable news network.

The former CNN talk kingpin will anchor “Politics with Larry King†on the RT America network, the English-language arm of Russia Today, beginning in June. The network will also telecast “Larry King Now,†which made its debut on Hulu and on Ora.tv last summer.

If you were hoping this meant the Cher of TV would himself be heading to the land of snow and vodka, we’re sorry to disappoint you. “Politics with Larry King†will be shot at RT America’s Washington studio, with “Larry King Now†continuing to be shot in Los Angeles.

“I have always been passionate about government and issues that impact the public, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to talk politics with some of the most influential people in Washington and around the country,†King said in a statement released by Russia Today. “I look forward to bringing these invigorating conversations, as well as my ‘Larry King Now’ interviews, to television audiences with RT America.â€

RT America will be the exclusive U.S. broadcaster for both programs, which will continue to stream online on Hulu, Ora.tv and RT.com.

The 79-year-old TV personality hosted “Larry King Live†for a quarter of a century on CNN before leaving the program in 2010.

Russia Today, launched by the Kremlin in 2005 in a bid to boost the image of Russian President Vladimir Putin, last year recruited Wikileaks founder Julian Assange to host his own talk show.
