Jack Bauer, rock star?

Kiefer Sutherland, famous for playing tough-guy anti-terrorism agent Bauer in Fox’s “24,†is going to be rocking out this spring, with a 26-city tour in support of his debut album, “Down in a Hole.â€

Fans know that Sutherland -- much like Kevin Bacon and Johnny Depp -- nurtures a musical side beyond his acting chops. In 2002, he and longtime friend Jude Cole formed a small record label named Ironworks (Sutherland left the label in 2009). As for his own music, check out a sample of his recent live work online.

“It’s the closest thing I’ve ever had to a journal or diary,†Sutherland, 49, wrote in a statement, referring to the songs he wrote for the new album. “All of these songs are pulled from my own personal experiences. There is something very satisfying about being able to look back on my own life, good times and bad, and express those sentiments in music. As much as I have enjoyed the writing and recording process, I am experiencing great joy now being able to play these songs to a live audience, which was something I hadn’t counted on.â€

Sutherland kicks off the tour in Milwaukee on April 14, then follows up with dates in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Boston and more. He will wrap May 28 in Amagansett, N.Y. Sorry, Californians, no local dates for you yet.

“Down in a Hole†is set for release this summer. Meantime, Fox revealed last month that it was ordering up a new “24†pilot, but with an all-new cast and a different actor as lead.

What do you think of Sutherland’s musical journey?
