Jeff Probst’s talker doesn’t survive daytime landscape

“The Jeff Probst Show” is the latest victim in the talk show death toll.

CBS Television Distribution has decided not to move forward with a second season of the freshman talker, helmed by the “Survivor” host -- despite the show having a two-year deal for distribution. The news comes a week after Twentieth Television canceled “The Ricki Lake Show.”

“I’m super bummed but extremely proud,” Probst said in a statement. “The truth is all shows come to an end. Ours just ended a decade sooner than we had hoped.”

“The Jeff Probst Show” struggled to stand out from the crowded talk show scene -- its low ratings never gained momentum. The show also underwent layoffs at the end of last year.

“We believe Jeff is an incredible talent, and that he and his dedicated producing team delivered quality episodes throughout the season,” CTD said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the audience isn’t there to support a second year. We are grateful to the entire staff, our affiliate partners and advertisers for their ongoing support of ‘The Jeff Probst Show.’”

Production and broadcast of the current season will continue, with the show wrapping its run by summer.
