Watch Taylor Swift join Jimmy Fallon for ‘Ew!’
Taylor Swift dropped in on “The Tonight Show†Wednesday, appearing with host Jimmy Fallon in a segment of “Ew!†and dropping word that she’ll be performing Aug. 24 at the MTV Video Music Awards.
She portrayed Natalie Benson, opposite Fallon’s teen diva Sara. Swift -- in a pink candy-stripe outfit and sporting braces, oversized glasses and a necklace made of Scrabble tiles spelling “N-A-T-A-L-I-E -- introduced herself by saying, “My name’s Natalie, I like to eat apricots and I have a Band-Aid collection.â€
Asked about her favorite TV shows, Natalie confessed that “my mom hasn’t let me watch television since Miley Cyrus twerked.†She then shared her drawing of a “peg-a-corn,†a hybrid of Pegasus and a unicorn.
Swift joins previously announced VMA performers including Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Usher, Maroon 5 and 5 Seconds of Summer.
She’s also getting ready for a live streaming session on Yahoo at 2 p.m. PDT on Aug. 18, the subject of which has not been announced. It’s a good guess she’ll use it, as she has in previous years, to let fans in on some details about the new album she’s expected to release in the fall.
Clear Channel said it will simulcast the live stream on more than 100 of its Top 40 and Contemporary Hit Radio format stations.
Fallon asked if she would put out a new album unexpectedly, as Beyonce did last year, but Swift said, “I don’t know that I would just pop one out.†She added that “there could be one announcement or multiple announcements,†without specifying whether that referred specifically to her album, a new tour or other projects.
She’s also got a costarring movie role, along with Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep, in the film adaption of Lois Lowry’s bestselling young adult book “The Giver,†which reaches theaters on Friday.
