Kendrick Lamar’s new album has been fixed at the top of the iTunes album chart since it unexpectedly appeared late Sunday night.

But Apple’s music store isn’t the only place fans have been listening to the L.A. hip-hop artist’s highly anticipated -- and rapturously reviewed -- “To Pimp a Butterfly.â€

Spotify, the digital-streaming service, announced Tuesday that “Butterfly†was streamed more than 9.6 million times on the album’s first day of availability -- “a new global record for the most streams in a single day worldwide,†according to a Spotify spokesman.
