Iggy Pop may be a lion in winter, but he’s got plenty of tales to tell.

A searing new album, “Post Pop Depression,†written with Josh Homme, re-asserted his relevance and potency. Now he’s got a new memoir recounting his wild days with the Stooges.

“Total Chaos: The Story of the Stooges / As Told by Iggy Pop†will be released this winter on Jack White’s Third Man Books. Authors Jeff Gold and Johan Kugelberg interviewed Pop at his Miami home, spending two days lasering in on Pop’s early days as a boundary-pushing rock star with his great Detroit group.

The Stooges debuted in 1969 and re-formed to release 2007’s “The Weirdness.†Their last album, billed under Iggy and the Stooges, came out in 2013.

The book will feature unseen photographs from the Stooges’ heyday and contributions from White, Joan Jett, Johnny Marr and others.

Pop comes through Los Angeles on Thursday with his “Post Pop Depression†band in tow, and it should be one of the year’s most fervent rock ‘n’ roll sets. But Iggy — a stellar raconteur in his own right — should make a great historian of those wild times and brutal tunes.
