Crosby, Stills & Nash headline 2nd Autism Speaks benefit Saturday

Crosby, Stills & Nash are back Saturday to headline the 2nd Light Up the Blues concert benefiting Autism Speaks, an event for which the veteran rock trio will be joined by John Mayer, former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stills and other guests at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.
Last year’s inaugural show raised $250,000 for the autism advocacy organization in conjunction with World Autism Awareness Day and Autism Awareness Month in April.
It also provided the raw material for “Light Up the Blues,” a documentary featuring performances from that show by CSN, Felder, Rickie Lee Jones, Lucinda Williams and other participants. That film is No. 4 on iTunes’ Concert Films ranking.
The benefit concerts, and the documentary, have been spearheaded by Stephen Stills and his wife, Kristen, who have a 17-year-old son, Henry, who has Asperger’s syndrome, an autism-spectrum disorder, and became immersed in the issues that autism raises for those with it and their families.
“We are so grateful to be able to bring such a special night of music to the Autism community and to support Autism Speaks,” Kristen and Stephen Stills said in a statement.
Although David Crosby recently postponed several scheduled solo performances to undergo a cardiac catheterization, a spokesman for the trio said, “David is back in good health, and everyone is looking forward to another great night.”
