Lord Huron brings Wild West romance to ‘Auld Lang Syne’
Lord Huron has had much to celebrate in 2012, including recent appearances on “The Tonight Show†and KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic,†as well as warm reviews of “Lonesome Dreams,†the L.A. indie-folk outfit’s debut full-length.

Now the group -- led by singer-songwriter (and visual artist) Ben Schneider -- has turned its attention to 2013 with a just-released rendition of “Auld Lang Syne,†which you can stream below via SoundCloud.
As on “Lonesome Dreams,†Schneider brings a sweeping sense of Wild West romance to the New Year’s standard, singing wistfully about cups of kindness and winds that call your name over a dreamy, lightly galloping groove. There’s even some Enya-style pan flute and what sounds like the whinny of a horse.
Perhaps Lord Huron will play the song on Jan. 4, when it kicks off the latest season of the Natural History Museum’s First Fridays series.
