‘12 Years a Slave,’ ‘Blue Jasmine’ win Costume Designer Guild awards
“12 Years a Slave,†“Blue Jasmine†and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire†won at the 16th Costume Designer Guild Awards on Saturday evening in Beverly Hills.
Patricia Norris won in the period film category for “12 Years a Slave.†Earlier in the evening, Steve McQueen’s indictment of slavery in the U.S. earned the top film prize at the NAACP Image Awards.
Suzy Benzinger took home the prize for contemporary film for “Blue Jasmine,†and Trish Summerville earned the trophy for excellence in fantasy film for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.â€

On the television side, Ellen Mirojnick won the Costume Designers Guild honor for television movie or miniseries for “Behind the Candelabra,†and Caroline McCall received the award for outstanding period/fantasy television series for “Downton Abbey.†The award for contemporary television series went to Tom Broecker for “House of Cards.â€
Nancy Steiner received the award in the excellence in commercial costume design category for “Call of Duty: Ghosts Masked Warriors.â€
Amy Adams received the Lacoste Spotlight Award, given for “an enduring commitment to excellence, including a special awareness of the role and importance of costume design.†Judd Apatow was the recipient of the guild’s Distinguished Collaborator Award. April Ferry, an Oscar nominee for “Maverick†and an Emmy winner for the HBO drama “Rome,†was the Career Achievement Award honoree.
Joshua Malina from “Scandal†hosted the ceremony, which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
