‘30 Rock’-themed Ben & Jerry’s flavor to be introduced
The sad news is that after seven seasons on the air, “30 Rock†is finally leaving us. The good news is that it will live on in our hearts, our minds ... and our guts?
On Thursday, the one-hour series finale will bring to a close the story of Liz Lemon, Jack Donaghy and the cast and writers of “TGS.†At the series finale after-party to be held Thursday night in New York City, near the real Rockefeller Center, Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Jerry Greenfield, is to introduce a new flavor of ice cream inspired by the NBC comedy.
Will it be Liz Lemon-ade Sorbet? Chocolate Chip Cookie Donaghy? Licor-acy Jordan?
This isn’t the first time Ben & Jerry’s has introduced a flavor around a TV show. In 2007, the company introduced Stephen Colbert’s AmeriCone Dream on “The Colbert Report†and in 2011, it introduced Late Night Snack on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.â€
It’s also gotten political, with a Yes, Pecan flavor in celebration of Barack Obama’s electoral victory in 2008. And it changed the name of Oh! My! Apple Pie! to Apple-y Ever After in support of gay marriage.
Whatever the new flavor is, it’s to be available at Ben & Jerry’s retail shops in February and in grocery stores sometime soon after that.
