TLC is plotting a comeback.

The surviving members of one of the best-selling girl groups of all time are planning their first new album in 10 years, according to the BBC.

Rozonda “Chilli†Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz†Watkins announced their potential return at the 2012 Mobo Awards in Liverpool on Saturday. They were there to accept the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

The new album would be the first since 2002’s “3D,†which was released six months after the group’s third member, spitfire Lisa “Left Eye†Lopes, died in a car crash in Honduras.

Asked how they fit in today’s pop scene, T-Boz said: “We’ve always grown throughout the years and have always had our own sound. That’s what works for us and we don’t have to worry about anybody else.

“When that stops working, maybe we’ll hang up the towel, but that still works. We have to get into the studio and start feeling how we feel. You have to find yourself first and then you find the path and then you have an album before you know it.â€

TLC’s new album is likely timed to a previously announced VH1 movie. The film, the first in a series of music biopics the network is producing, will be executive-produced by Watkins and Thomas. Kate Lanier, who penned the scripts for “What’s Love Got To Do With It,†“Beauty Shop,†and “Set It Off,†will write the screenplay.

Earlier this year it was announced that the group was considering a North American tour that would incorporate video projections of Lopes.

TLC has sold more than 65 million records worldwide. No word on what label will issue the upcoming disc or a projected release date.
