Chef Jet Tila, who has battled it out on “Iron Chef America” and opened the buzzy pan-Asian restaurant Wazuzu at the Wynn in Las Vegas, has brought his tasty brand of Asian-fusion comfort food to Santa Monica. Called the Charleston and decked out in snazzy 1930s-era decor, Tila’s new boîte features classic cocktails, live music — including jazz — and short rib tacos. Happy hour, which takes place Mondays through Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m., offers a chance to taste Tila’s food without residual wallet pain. Choose a $7 bacon, egg and cheese flatbread; $2 Korean tacos or $5 Thai sweet and sour hot wings with Sriracha — and more — and wash it all down with $7 craft cocktails or $5 well drinks.

Happy hour gets all-day crazy at Drago Centro, the hidden Italian respite in a boxy office building off Flower Street in downtown Los Angeles. When you order from the special bar menu from 11 a.m. to close on weekdays, and from 5 p.m. to close on weekends, you won’t get baby bites of anything. Calamari with spicy herb aioli comes in an ample bowl; the charcuterie comes on a chunky cutting board with three types of tender meat and cheese; and the salmon crostini is thick and salty — a meal unto itself. A selection of four cocktails by affable mixologist Jaymee Mandeville, including an effervescent caipiroska, pack a life-sized punch for the puny price of $5.

Sometimes your happiest hours are spent drinking. At times like that you’d do well to get yourself to the Prince in Koreatown. Originally opened in the 1920s, when Mid-Wilshire was the place to be in Los Angeles, the Prince still looks much as it must have years ago. Circular red tufted booths, super-low lights and a happening oval bar in the center of the room make the Prince one of the most inviting places in town to nurse a martini. And since last August, with very little fanfare, the Prince has been offering 50% off on all alcoholic beverages every day from 4 to 8 p.m.
