Emmylou Harris The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter rolls into town with a new album, “Hard Bargain,†for which she co-wrote nearly all the heartfelt, ruminative songs. Thurston Moore The Sonic Youth frontman had an excellent album of acoustic-centered songs, “Demolished Thoughts,†out earlier this year, and it underlined the writing beneath his band’s volley of feedback (with an added production assist from Beck). From Start to Finish: The Story of ‘Gray Column’ This documentary tracks sculptor De Wain Valentine as he crafts a giant, well, gray column. But the monolithic polyresin sculpture is a technical feat like few others in art, and this film asks what it means when art is so physically imposing. Getty Center, 1200 Getty Center Drive, L.A. Los Angeles Goes Live This exhibition, performance series and publication project explores the histories and legacies of performance art in the Southland from the ‘70s to early ‘80s.
