Carlos Bunga Likening his improvised constructions to abstract paintings in three dimensions, Barcelona-based, Portuguese-born artist Carlos Bunga brings an assortment of works dating from 2002 to ’08 — drawings, paintings, sculptures and videos — to the Lobby Gallery for an exhibition that is part of the Hammer Projects series. Riverside Festival of Lights One of Southern California’s most impressive holiday events, the Riverside Festival of Lights, kicks off at the historic Mission Inn in downtown Riverside. Get a view of millions of festive lights, more than 400 animated characters and enjoy live entertainment, an ice-skating rink and vendors. Loscon The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society will bring Loscon, a regional science fiction convention, to Los Angeles for the 38th year in a row. The Thanksgiving weekend festivity will feature astronaut Rick Searfoss, author John DeChancie, artist Aldo Spadoni and fan writer John Hertz. Other events include panels, room parties, a masquerade ball and a special show from Wicked Lit, a theater group that stages readings of classic fantasy and horror tales. LAX Marriott Hotel, 5855 W. Morrissey Put on your saddest pair of black jeans, dye your hair dark, grab your runniest black eyeliner and cry into your morning coffee: Morrissey, the king of melancholy rock, is in town. The beloved, deep-voiced crooner and former frontman of the Smiths will bring his most practiced pout to the stage along with a host of songs off his new greatest hits collection sure to deliver the eager audience straight back to its most awkward high school years.
