‘Star Wars’ toys reveal universe of new ‘Force Awakens’ characters
Force Friday continues on and we’ve got a gigantic photo gallery of the new Hasbro toys stuffed to the gills with new characters for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens†and even stranger game tie-ins. Behold the merchandising wonder!
Tucked inside this massive lineup of “Star Wars†action figures, new speeders and even a “Star Wars†Risk board game (which is pretty clever) are a whole lot of new faces from the galaxy far, far away. And thank goodness each new alien or fighter has the most “Star Wars-y†names ever.
First up is Teedo, seen in the two-pack desert ensemble. This character was revealed a few days ago in a “Star Wars†still. And according to the official “Star Wars†site Teedo, “is a small, brutish scavenger that roams Jakku’s vast wasteland on his semi-mechanical Luggabeast.â€

Next is Constable Zuvio, whose toy is so entirely cartoony it should be interesting to see how they pull this off in a live-action film. His official description is: “vigilant law officer on a mostly lawless world, the tough and humorless Constable Zuvio keeps order in a frontier trading post.â€
Sadly the rest of the characters don’t have images or even toys, but their names were dropped in the Hasbro press release, which allows us to kick on the speculation machine, with a little help from the official descriptions released on StarWars.com
There’s Ello Asty, “a skilled if occasionally reckless X-wing starfighter pilot for the Resistance.†And Sarco Plank: “a scavenger and trader who scours frontier worlds for riches, Sarco Plank must wear a specialized mask that keeps his native atmosphere circulating through his alien lungs.†The droid PZ-4CO is “a constant fixture in Resistance base control rooms, offering tactical data and communications support during important operations.â€
And finally the fantastically monikered Goss Toowers, who “is part of the tireless technical crew that provides mechanical support to the Resistance’s fleet of starfighters.†The name has to be some sort of crew bet to see who could come up with the most Star Wars-sounding name to ever grace the tongues of Lucasfilms employees. Can’t wait to meet him/her/whomever.
