Snoop Dogg visited Inglewood on Tuesday in an effort to help families in need have a good Thanksgiving.

The rapper and his production crew, 1500 or Nothin', joined Inglewood Mayor James Butts and other city officials at the Forum to hand out turkeys, which the city does annually.

This is the first time Snoop participated, and he made a significant difference thanks to his donation of money and time, Butts said.

"There is a greater need than ever here for families that require assistance around the holidays,†Butts said. "With Snoop's help, we were able to hand out 800 turkeys."

The turkeys were gone in a flash, he said.

"People were very excited to get a picture" with Snoop, Butts said, calling the rapper "very gracious."

Snoop -- real name Calvin Broadus, 43 -- had contacted the city to ask if there was anything he could do to help the needy this Thanksgiving. He made a point of telling the mayor it would not be the last time he would work with the city to help the community.

Snoop, who could not be reached for additional comment, shared some images from the afternoon on Instagram.
