Gwen Stefani-Gavin Rossdale rumor roundup: What’s behind the divorce?
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s seemingly perfect union and their surprising split have given rise to much speculation after the couple announced their divorce on Monday.
The No Doubt frontwoman and the Bush rocker — a match made in 1990s grunge heaven — released a joint statement saying they no longer would be “partners in marriage†but would remain “partners in parenthood†for their three young sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo.
The future ex-spouses each filed similar divorce petitions Monday citing irreconcilable differences without publicly offering additional reasons for their split. Per usual, the webloids took up that mantle on Tuesday, touting possible aggravating factors, including allegations of infidelity and their careers keeping them apart. And, as in the Ben Affleck-Jennifer Garner split and many before them, nanny-shaming also came into play.
According to TMZ, the split was a long time coming, with Stefani believing her husband of nearly 13 years was cheating on her. The site claimed that the couple had been on the outs for a while and that she thought he was away from home too much as he toured with Bush from December 2014 to March 2015.
RadarOnline floated the notion that Rossdale had cheated with their nanny, though its source also said, “Gavin always denied anything inappropriate.â€
Us Weekly similarly claimed that the L.A.M.B. designer, 45, and the English rocker, 49, had been trying to save their union since the birth of their third child in March 2014.
“Things were rocky before then, but they tried to make the marriage work,†an insider told the magazine. “But it just couldn’t. A lot of the feeling was gone.â€
Meanwhile, People asserted that the musicians were going through “an amicable parting†and are putting their three boys first during the transition.
“Their priority is making sure they maintain a safe and secure home for their children, regardless of what’s happening,†a source close to “The Voice†mentor told the mag, adding that Stefani’s top priority is making sure their kids feel “secure and comforted during the process.â€
