Adam Levine is back in the news — well, his back is back in the news, as he revealed a massive tattoo that took half a year to complete.
"6 months in the making," the Maroon 5 singer wrote on Instagram, posting a shot of the extensive ink. "Thanks @bryanrandolph for absolutely blowing my mind with this one! Woooo hooooo!!!!"
Levine, 36, had teased to the new art when it was at the halfway point. Even then, it could have passed for a complete piece, with a very detailed detail pulled out for up-close viewing.
And he hasn't restricted the work to his back: Two months ago, he debuted a hand holding a rose on the left side of his chest, what appears the be the word "California" across his upper belly and a tail of some sort on his lower belly. Contrast the shot of him in a cardigan with an earlier pic of a shirtless Levine hanging out with Sammy Hagar to see where all that new ink landed.
Levine hasn't publicly explained the meaning of the back tat yet, but a couple of years ago, he revealed the meaning of that permanent chain around his neck. More accurately, the utter lack of meaning.
"I was in Japan and I got this necklace," he told Inked magazine. "I'm not sure why I got it — think I was bored. But I like it."
