He made fun of women’s breasts. He dressed up as “The Flying Nun” and hit on Sally Field.
There were jokes about Adele’s weight, Salma Hayek’s accent, the Chris Brown-Rihanna domestic violence case and people who are gay.
Seth MacFarlane even trotted out William Shatner as “Star Trek’s” Captain Kirk in his opening monologue at the 85th Academy Awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hired the 39-year-old creator of “Family Guy” and “Ted” to add a little zing to the Oscars, whose ratings have been declining and whose audience is growing old fast.
Early reviews of his hosting were sharply mixed and mostly negative.

“Well, that didn’t work.” said Mary McNamara in The Los Angeles Times.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Tim Goodman said, “He was fine. He was himself. Only Hollywood, with agendas to the left and right, could have taken that amazingly brief appearance from MacFarlane and tried to spin it into a disaster.”
Robert Bianco in USA Today saw it differently: “Awash in self-indulgence, neither he nor his 3-hour-and-35-minute show ever seemed to hit a comfortable, confident stride.”
