Ang Lee to receive honor from Motion Picture Sound Editors

Ang Lee, who earned the best director Oscar for the 2005 drama “Brokeback Mountain,” was named recipient Tuesday of the Motion Picture Sound Editors’ 2013 Filmmaker Award.
The 58-year-old filmmaker, whose latest film, “The Life of Pi,” is considered one of the Academy Award front-runners, will receive the honor at the 60th MPSE Golden Reel Awards on Feb. 17 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites.
“Ang Lee is a fascinating innovator,” said MPSE President Bobbi Banks in a statement Tuesday. “He continually breaks ground through the use of the latest technology both visually and sonically.”
Past recipients of the award include George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Clint Eastwood.
