ESPN’s college football, “Antiques Roadshow†on PBS and “Today with Kathy Lee & Hoda†on NBC top the list of favorite TV shows among political conservatives.

TV viewers defined by market research group Experian Simmons as “mild Republicans†are partial to the sitcom “Rules of Engagement†on CBS, “Sons of Guns†on Discovery, and “Sons of Anarchy†on FX. “Mild Republicans†were described as “somewhat conservative.â€

But Comedy Central‘s late night duo of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart†and “The Colbert Report†with Stephen Colbert are wildly popular among those defined by Experian Simmons as “Super Democrats.†This group is described as “somewhat†to “very liberal.â€

The report, “Top TV Programs among Voter Segments,†was released this week. Experian Simmons arrived at its findings after polling about 25,000 adults picked at random for its annual survey.

The study is intended to help political candidates and groups place their advertising within TV shows watched by voters they most want to reach.

The study also found that the most popular TV shows among environmentalists classified as “green traditionalists†are “Lizard Lick Towing†on Turner’s Tru TV, “Extreme Couponing†on TLC and “Four Weddings†on TLC.

Voters described as “On the Fence Liberals,†are keen for “The Graham Norton Show†on BBC America, “Aqua Teen Hunger Force†on Carton Network’s Adult Swim and “Top Gear†on BBC America. High concentrations of this group live in Providence, R.I., and Portland, Maine.

“Green traditionalists†are most concentrated in Santa Barbara, Salt Lake City, and Harlingen, Texas. Ultra-conservatives, who have conservative views on immigration, employment and healthcare, populate Salt Lake City, and Idaho Falls and Twin Falls, Idaho.

Meanwhile, “Mild†Republicans can be found in Omaha; Fargo, N.D; and Peoria, Ill. “Super†Democrats over-index in San Francisco, Boston and Seattle, according to the study.
