David O. Russell to be honored at Hollywood Film Awards
Writer/director David O. Russell (“The Fighter,†“Three Kingsâ€) is set to receive the Hollywood Director Award at the 16th annual Hollywood Film Awards on Oct. 22 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
His latest film, “Silver Linings Playbook,†which won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival, is scheduled to open Nov. 21. There’s already considerable Oscar buzz about the movie.
“We are thrilled this year to honor director David O. Russell for his outstanding work and creative vision exemplified in his extraordinary new film, ‘Silver Linings Playbook,’†Carlos de Abreu, founder and executive director of the Hollywood Film Awards, said in a statement Friday morning.
Among other honorees at the awards are Robert De Niro, Marion Cotillard, John Hawkes and Quvenzhane Wallis.
The Los Angeles Times is a sponsor of the Hollywood Film Awards.
