TV ratings: ‘Sunday Night Football’ wins; Fox shows rise

The Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers “Sunday Night Football” game boosted NBC to No. 1, according to early Nielsen ratings.
The telecast, which drew 17.3-million viewers, averaged a rating of 6.2 in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic.
The night of sports on NBC helped the network average 14.5-million viewers overall and a rating of 5.1 in the key demo.
However, due to the nature of live sports, ratings for Fox (from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and for NBC (from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.) are approximate.
With help from football and its Sunday night comedy line-up, Fox was the second most-watched network of the night in the key demo with a rating of 2.6. It was third most-watched overall with 6.7-million viewers.
After a NFL overtime lead-in on Fox, “The Simpsons” was up 45% with a rating of 2.9 in the key demo. It also surged 57% in total viewers, averaging 6.6 million.
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” also saw a steady increase of 6% with a rating of 1.8 in the key demo. It averaged 4-million viewers, up 18% from last week.
“Mulaney” posted a rating of 0.9 in the key demo, up 29% from last week. The sitcom averaged 2-million viewers.
Only “Family Guy” was down with a rating of 1.8 in the key demo, a 28% decrease from its most recent original episode three weeks ago.
ABC, which averaged 5.9-million viewers, was the third most-watched network in the key demo with a rating of 1.6.
“America’s Funniest Home Videos” earned a rating of 1.5 in the key demo, up 25% from last week. It averaged 6.6-million viewers.
“Revenge,” which had 5.2-million viewers, also grew about 8% in the key demo with a rating of 1.3.
“Once Upon a Time” was down just 4% from last week with a rating of 2.5 in the key demo. It rounded out the top 10 most-watched programs of the night with 7.4-million viewers.
“Resurrection,” which followed, dropped 14% from last week and tied its series low with a rating of 1.2. The show averaged 4.5 million viewers.
Although CBS was the second most-watched network overall with almost 11-million viewers, the network fell behind ABC in the key demo.
With most of the network’s shows down from last week, CBS was fourth in the key demo with a rating of 1.4.
“60 Minutes” dropped a whopping 56% from last week to a rating of 1.5 in the key demo. It was fifth most-watched program of the night overall with 12-million viewers.
“Madam Secretary” tied its lowest rating to date, posting a 1.4 in the key demo. However, it was the most-watched program on the network of the night, taking fourth overall with 12.6-million viewers.
“CSI” was also down 14% from its most recent original episode and tied its series low with a rating of 1.2. It averaged 8.6-million viewers.
“The Good Wife,” which had about 10.7-million viewers, stayed even with last week with a rating of 1.4.
