The Kenneth fire has burned 960 acres in the west San Fernando Valley near Hidden Hills, Woodland Hills and West Hills.

It was burning near a trailhead at Victory Boulevard near the border of L.A. and Ventura counties. The area is near the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve.

Ten people have died, more than 9,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed, and at least 130,000 residents are under evacuation orders. Experts say L.A. is not out of danger yet and that these fires have the potential to be the costliest wildfire disaster in American history.

Evacuations

  • Evacuation orders in the area west of Valley Circle Boulevard and north of Burbank Boulevard were downgraded to warnings Thursday night.
  • And evacuation warnings were canceled for the area between Valley Circle and Woodlake Avenue and in the Oak Park area near Kanan Road and Agoura Road, east of Kanan Road to Deer Hill.
  • Two evacuation centers were open Thursday, at Winnetka Recreation Center, 8401 Winnetka Ave., and ONE Generation, 18255 Victory Blvd. in Reseda.
