Filmmaker Tyler Perry is upsizing in Atlanta after record home sale
Tyler Perry has moved on from his hulking estate in Atlanta in record fashion, but he’s definitely not downsizing.
In an interview with “E! News,†the comic actor and filmmaker revealed that he has bought an even larger property outside of the city. “It’s the same distance to the studio as my old house, but now I can have horses and pigs and organic vegetables,†Perry told correspondent Marc Malkin.
If and when it ever comes to light, it will be interesting to see how much bigger Perry’s new house is compared with the massive 17-acre compound he sold last month for a record-breaking $17.5 million.
Accessed by two gated entrances, the property centers on a French Provincial-style mansion with nearly 35,000 square feet of living space. A hobby house, a guardhouse and a caretaker suite also are on the property for a total of seven bedrooms, nine full bathrooms and five half-baths.
A resort-like swimming pool and waterfall, a tennis court, formal and informal gardens, fountains, lawns and a multi-level parking garage are also on the grounds.
The house came to market last year for $25 million and closed sale in late April. The pricey transaction was reportedly the most ever paid for a residential home in Atlanta.
The 46-year-old Perry is known for his recurring role as Madea, an older woman he has portrayed in such films as “Diary of a Mad Black Woman†(2002), “Madea’s Witness Protection†(2012) and “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Neighbors From Hell†(2014).
