Steve Martin sells his hilltop getaway in tropical St. Bart’s
Comic actor Steve Martin has sold his Caribbean retreat in St. Barthelemy for an undisclosed price. The property had been listed at $7.78 million.
The hilltop estate, which the comedian bought in 2007, takes in panoramic views of the bay of Saint Jean and the islands of St. Martin and Anguilla. A four-bedroom Colonial-style house with an open floor plan is surrounded by multiple terraces, a two-tiered infinity pool and lush tropical gardens.
Built on one level, the 3,000-square-foot home features vaulted beamed ceilings, a gourmet kitchen that opens an indoor dining room and outdoor dining space with a second kitchen and barbecue. The master suite has an outdoor shower, a private deck and a spa.
Walls slide away to open the house to the swimming pool and unobstructed vistas.
A lily pond surrounds a garden gazebo. The property also includes a caretaker’s home.
The Emmy- and Grammy-winning Martin, 70, starred in such films as “The Jerk†(1979), “Bowfinger†(1999) and “Shop Girl†(2005). He is a writer, producer and professional banjo player.
Christian Wattiau of Sibarth Real Estate, an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, handled the transaction.
