A sports-centric home in a gated community in Poway, about 30 minutes northeast of San Diego, is going up for auction next month.
Owned by sports agent Jonathan Weisz, the 42-acre spread with a private baseball diamond returned to market a year ago for $9.995 million and is currently listed for sale at $8.995 million. It will be put up for auction on Feb. 23 at a starting bid of $3.2 million if not sold prior to that date.
Tucked between hillsides in the Heritage, an enclave popular among professional athletes, the property includes a three-story Mediterranean-style main house, a guesthouse and stables/apartment totaling six bedrooms and 14 bathrooms in more than 18,000 square feet of space.
Among features are game and media rooms, a wine cellar and a full gym complete with a cold plunge, dry sauna and steam shower. A resort-style swimming pool with a lazy river and a water slide sits off the main house.
A second parcel holds the baseball field that Weisz added for his sons in 2007.
Encircled by a white fence, the field sports a major league-sized infield and a backstop. A basketball half-court and a lighted batting cage sit below the field.
A riding corral, fenced pastureland and two producing wells are also within the grounds.
Weisz, a Major League Baseball-registered agent, acquired the two-parcel property in separate transactions totaling $2.7 million in 2004, records show.
Anna Houssels and Brittany Hahn, in cooperation with Mary Jo Atkins of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty, are handling the sale.
