If Chauncey Billups does decide to hang up his sneakers this off-season, he probably won’t be riding out retirement in his Denver-area home. The NBA free agent guard has listed his 9,206-square-foot mansion-estate for sale at $3 million.

Built in 2004, the contemporary Prairie-style residence rests adjacent to Buell Lake in the Buell Mansion neighborhood of Englewood, Colo. Opening through a grand entry, the stucco and stone structure is defined by double-high interiors with rows of beveled glass windows, hardwood built-ins and a towering fireplace in the living room.

Among the features are a chef’s kitchen with dual islands, a game/media room, a wet bar, a study/den and a theater room. The master suite has a sitting room, a soaking tub and steam shower. In all, the home counts six bedrooms, nine bathrooms and four fireplaces.

Billups, 37, has played for seven teams in 17 seasons including stints with the Clippers, Nuggets and Pistons, winning an NBA title with the latter in 2004. The five-time All-Star spent last season with Detroit. Currently a free agent, Billups had knee surgery early this year and is considering retirement, according to reports.

The former University of Colorado standout paid $3 million for the home in January 2009, public records show.

Hat tip to Busted Coverage for spotting the listing, which is held by Nick Evancich of Re/Max 100 Inc.
