Former vacation home of Brigitte Bardot is for sale in southeastern France
The former vacation home of French actress-singer-model Brigitte Bardot is for sale for about $5.65 million.
Found within walking distance of the village of Peymeinade, in the hills overlooking the French Riviera, the stone-lined residence is where Bardot retreated to in her early 20s after divorcing her first husband, Roger Vadim. As the legend goes, she intended to buy the property known as Le Castelet, but later was swayed by her mother to buy a waterfront property in St. Tropez.
Dating back to the 13th century, the estate centers on a stone-lined main house that has been renovated and restored by its current owners. Among features of note are rough-hewn beams, stone and tiled floors, French doors and period hardwood. A formal living room retains its original Louis XIV fireplace.
Including a guest house, there are 14 bedrooms in more than 6,500 square feet of living space.
Outdoors, stone walkways converge on a main pavilion with a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen. A pool house, two infinity-edge swimming pools, a wine cave, private cellars, formal gardens, an olive grove and three vineyards fill the remaining grounds.
Views take in the Estérel Mountains and Cannes Bay.
Beauchamp Estates holds the listing.
Bardot, 81, has scores of film credits including “Act of Love†(1953), “And God Created Women†(1956) and “Contempt†(1963). She retired from acting in the 1970s and since has devoted her time to animal rights activism.
