Dodgers infielder Alex Guerrero snags Florida mansion
Dodgers infielder Alex Guerrero, who signed a $28-million free-agent contract with the team last October, has purchased a lakefront home in Weston, Fla., for $2.5 million.
The Mediterranean-style residence on about one acre in Windmill Ranch Estates features vaulted interiors with a game/media room, an elevator, five bedrooms and seven bathrooms in more than 9,000 square feet.
Clad in marble and hardwood, the home opens to a two-story living room with detailed ceiling treatments and a balcony above. A country-style kitchen sports custom cabinetry and a large center island.
Outdoors, a covered patio looks out over pool and spa, with lake views in the backdrop. Elsewhere on the property is a four-car garage.
The Cuban-born ballplayer, 27, defected to the Dominican Republic before joining the Dodgers on a four-year pact. He appeared in 11 games for the Dodgers this season, mostly as a pinch-hitter.
The property originally came to market in January with an asking price of $3.49 million, records show. Terri Perlini of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent in the sale, which closed in early October, according to the Daily Business Review.
