The computer problems began Tuesday morning, with airline officials announcing shortly before noon that it was grounding all flights until at least 2 p.m. Pacific time.
The airlines announced that the system was back online at 1:30 p.m. Pacific time. American Airlines officials said they would waive change fees for passengers who want to rebook their delayed flights.
Passengers who are stuck at an airport and want to rebook with another airline can get help by talking to American Airlines agents at ticket counters, airline officials said.
The airline added: “It is important to note we see no evidence that today’s technical outage is related to the tragic events in Boston.”
