Dropbox doubles storage space for Pro users, adds 500 GB plan
Dropbox, the cloud storage company, announced it is doubling the size of its Pro users accounts as well as adding a new 500 gigabyte option.
The San Francisco-based start-up made the announcement on its blog Tuesday, saying its users have been asking for more space. With Dropbox having recently added a feature that makes it easy to upload pictures, the company said it was time to accommodate its users.
“As people add more stuff to Dropbox, we want to make sure they don’t have to worry about space,†the company said in its blog post.
The company is now offering 100 GB for $9.99 a month, the same price it used to offer 50 GB. It also double its $19.99 a month for 100 GB plan to 200 GB. Additionally, the company also announced a 500 GB plan, but it gave no details on price in the blog post.
The changes are supposed to go into affect Tuesday, and current Pro users will see their account receive the additional space around the same time.
Dropbox also said it will let Pro users share a free, three-month trial of the 100 GB plan with other users.
Unfortunately for all other users, Dropbox is still only offering 2 GB for free accounts.
