Explore Music From the ‘Inside’ with the LA Phil
The LA Phil has introduced an exciting new series designed to expand your enjoyment of orchestral music at Walt Disney Concert Hall. A ticket to an Inside the Music concert offers much more than brilliant performances by the world-class Los Angeles Philharmonic. Ticket holders also gain access to an array of enhancements designed to help them delve deeper and get more out of their musical encounter than ever before. With KUSC deejay Brian Lauritzen as host and guide, the series supplements the concerts with an exclusive behind-the-scenes video emailed a week before each performance, entertaining and informative pre-concert presentations, personal insight from musicians after the performance, and even an online game to bring it all together.
On Jan. 16, the next Inside the Music program will include music that speaks with unmistakable emotion, bringing composer, performer and listener together with a degree of sympathetic involvement that is profound.
Henryk Górecki’s Third Symphony mesmerized the musical world and sold more than a million CDs. As a follow-up, the LA Phil co-commissioned another symphony from the Polish master. Left unfinished at the composer’s death, his Fourth Symphony now receives its American premiere in a completion by his son Mikolaj.
Russian conductor Andrey Boreyko, who led the first performances in London, brings it to L.A., along with a work by Alexander Tansman, the glittering orchestral homage “Stèle in memoriam Igor Stravinsky,†composed in 1972. The Sibelius Violin Concerto, played by soloist Nikolaj Znaider, completes this compelling program of music from the heart.
Tickets to this extraordinary Inside the Music concert are available on the LA Phil’s website.
