New Dan Brown book, ‘Origin,’ will continue his mega-selling Da Vinci Code series
Dan Brown, the best-selling author of “The Da Vinci Code†and “Angels & Demons†is bringing his hero Robert Langdon back.
“Origin†will be published in 2017 by Doubleday. It will be Brown’s fifth novel featuring Langdon, a Harvard professor of “symbology†with a knack for uncovering vast religious conspiracies.
The book announcement comes a month before the release of the movie “Inferno,†the adaptation of the fourth book in Brown’s series. The film stars Tom Hanks as Langdon.
In a news release, Doubleday promises Brown’s next book will deal with “codes, science, religion, history, art and architecture,†similar to the themes of his previous Langdon novels.
“‘Origin’ thrusts Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon into the dangerous intersection of humankind’s two most enduring questions, and the earth-shaking discovery that will answer them,†Doubleday writes.
Brown introduced Langdon in his 2000 novel “Angels & Demons,†but it was the mega-bestselling novel “The Da Vinci Code,†released three years later, that made the character a household name and spawned legions of imitators. Brown brought Langdon back in “The Lost Symbol†(2009) and “Inferno†(2013).
The books have sold more than 200 million copies worldwide. Doubleday will publish “Origin†on Sept. 26, 2017.
