Sylvia Day proves erotica’s still got it with e-book bestseller debut
Can erotica have a life after E.L. James’ “Fifty Shades of Grey Sylvia Day is showing that it can with her latest novel, which debuted at the top of e-book bestseller lists this week.
“Captivated by You,†Day’s fourth installment in her Crossfire series, leads both the iBooks list and Digital Book World’s combined e-book bestseller list. The book is being published by Berkley in e-book and paperback format.
The Crossfire series -- “Bared to You,†“Reflected in You,†“Entwined in You†and now “Captivated by You†-- follow the sexy romance between Eva, a young woman who works in advertising, and handsome billionaire Gideon. The novels have sold upward of 13 million copies, and the story was optioned by Lionsgate Television in 2013.
While “Fifty Shades of Grey†is the best-known contemporary erotic novel, Day is a more prolific writer than E.L. James. In the last decade, Day has published more than 20 books with a dozen publishers in 41 languages. Her books were among the biggest sellers internationally in 2012 and 2013.
A fifth book is planned in the Crossfire series, and Day is also at work on a new two-book duology, Blacklist, coming out with St. Martin’s in 2015.
