London Olympics: U.S. defeats Brazil in women’s volleyball
The U.S. women’s volleyball team defeated defending gold medalist Brazil, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21, in Group B preliminary match on Monday at Earls Court in London.
The victory puts the U.S. as the favorite to win the gold this year.
The U.S. was led by Destinee Hooker (22 kills, one block), Jordan Larson (16 kills, two blocks), Logan Tom(12 kills) and Foluke Akinradewo (nine kills). The team finished with a .350 attack percentage.
The U.S. is 2-0 in Group B and plays China on Wednesday.
