London: 6 nights at 4-star hotel + airfare start at $1,132

If you’re looking for a good deal that doesn’t scream “budget travel,” Virgin Vacations has a 4-Star London package this fall that includes round-trip airfare from Los Angeles and six nights in a top hotel starting around $1,132 per person.

The deal: Airfare to London, plus six nights at the Thistle City Barbican Hotel with breakfast come with this package that varies according to your departure date. The deal is based on double occupancy and departs from many U.S. cities, with New York City being the cheapest.

When: The offer is good for departures Oct. 1-31 and Nov. 12-26. You receive an additional $50 per person off the rate if you book by Thursday and use the promotion code VVUK5 when making the reservation.

Tested: You can book this package online or by phone. I went online and found an Oct. 16 departure from Los Angeles for $1,132 per person, including taxes and fees. (Leaving Nov. 24 to spend Thanksgiving overseas cost a couple hundred dollars more.)

I then checked the cheapest round-trip airfare leaving Oct. 19 and returning Oct. 26 ($800 per person, with tax) and the cost of the hotel room for six nights ($855 per person, with tax) and found that the package saves $523. The only drawback if you are a Virgin Atlantic fan: The flights in my package include KLM and Delta, not Virgin.
