Japan: $789 round trips from Los Angeles to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on ANA
All Nippon Airways, or ANA, is offering special round-trip fares starting at $789 for its new nonstop service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND), which will begin Oct. 31.
The deal: The promotion, called Limited Eco Value Fares-Haneda Inaugural Special is available online only (no phone reservations) for round-trip airfares starting at $789 on weekdays and $829 on weekends; prices exclude some taxes and fees. The flights will use the new international terminal at Haneda Airport, which is scheduled to open Oct. 21. One advantage of Haneda is that it’s much closer to downtown Tokyo than the better-known Narita International Airport.
When: The offer is good for flights through Dec. 10, subject to availability, but you must book by Oct. 28.
Tested: I checked online and found a flight leaving Los Angeles on Monday, Nov. 8, and returning Monday, Nov. 15, for $808.40 plus $80.70 in tax. When I checked weekend dates, with a Saturday, Nov. 20, departure and Saturday, Nov. 27, return, I found a round-trip fare of $843.40 plus $80.70 in tax. While checking random dates, I found the lowest advertised rates ($789, plus tax) available midweek in early December.
In a quick, comparative check on the search engine Kayak.com for similar dates, I found only one airline offering a lower round-trip fare (about $20 less), Korean Air, but you would have to fly via Seoul. The ANA flights are nonstop.
