Nine-time champion Chatsworth (23-4) has been seeded No. 1 for the 16-team City Section Division I baseball playoffs that begin May 19.
The championship game will be played May 29 at 1 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.
Wilmington Banning (20-8) is seeded No. 2, followed by Woodland Hills El Camino Real (15-11) and Arleta (23-4).
As the top-seeded team, Chatsworth has the opportunity of playing host to three playoff games, and the Chancellors haven’t lost a playoff game at home since the 2000 season — a streak of 22 victories.
The three-time defending champion Chancellors will open the playoffs against the winner of Friday’s play-in game between host Harbor City Narbonne and Verdugo Hills. The other play-in game Friday matches host Reseda Cleveland and Sun Valley Poly.
Notable about the Division I pairings is that all six West Valley League teams made the draw.
One of the most intriguing opening games has No. 5 San Pedro (21-5) playing host to No. 12 San Fernando (16-10), which is expected to use one of the most feared pitchers in the tournament, junior left-hander David Lira (6-1), who owns victories over playoff teams Sun Valley Poly, Verdugo Hills and Monroe as well as Southern Section power Newbury Park.
Arleta, the East Valley League champion, received its highest seeding in Division I and has its own hot pitcher in unbeaten Javy Lopez (7-0).
In Division II, Westchester (18-8) was awarded the No. 1 seeding. In Division III, Panorama (8-14) was seeded No. 1.
The Division II final will be played May 29 at 10 a.m. at Dodger Stadium. The Division III final is June 2 at 4 p.m. at USC.
