Cal Poly San Luis Obispo upsets UC Santa Barbara
David Hanson made two free throws with 5.5 seconds to play to clinch host Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s 60-57 upset of Big West Conference leader UC Santa Barbara on Saturday night.
Hanson finished with 11 points and 17 rebounds as the Mustangs (11-17, 7-8) won for only the third time in their last 10 games.
Charles Anderson led the Mustangs with 15 points.
Orlando Johnson scored a game-high 21 points for the Gauchos (17-9, 11-4).
at UC Irvine 79, Cal State Northridge 74 -- Eric Wise had 21 points and 13 rebounds to help lift the Anteaters (13-16, 5-9 Big West), who also got 22 points from Michael Hunter.
Kenny Daniels led the Matadors (10-19, 5-9) with 20 points and Willie Galick scored 18.
at Pacific 61, Long Beach State 51 -- The Tigers (18-10, 10-4 Big West) wrapped up the game with a 16-8 run.
T.J. Robinson had 19 points and eight rebounds to lead the 49ers (14-15, 7-8).
Michael Nunnally’s two free throws with nine minutes remaining gave Pacific the lead for good.
at St. Mary’s 88, Loyola Marymount 80 -- Omar Samhan tied his career high with 33 points and set St. Mary’s season scoring record with 623 points.
Matthew Dellavedova had 20 points for the Gaels (24-5, 11-3 West Coast Conference).
Jarred DuBois had 18 points and Vernon Teel had 16 for the Lions (16-14, 7-7), who had won their previous three games.
at San Diego 65, Pepperdine 48 -- The Waves (7-23, 3-11 WCC) couldn’t contain the Toreros (10-20, 3-11), who shot 61.9% in the second half on the way to ending a losing streak at six games.
Lorne Jackson had 15 points for the Waves.
at Seattle 76, Cal State Bakersfield 72 -- Stephon Carter had 19 points for the Roadrunners (7-21), who lost their third game in a row.
Women
UCLA 91, at Oregon 75 -- Jasmine Dixon had 31 points and 20 rebounds for the Bruins (20-7, 13-3 Pacific 10 Conference), who closed out the game with a 41-9 run.
Micaela Cocks had 24 points for the Ducks (16-12, 7-9).
USC 53, at Oregon State 50 -- Heather Oliver scored 18 points to lead the Trojans (16-11, 9-6 Pac-10), who handed the Beavers (9-18, 1-15) their 16th consecutive defeat.
