FRIDAY THROUGH JUNE 7: TIGERS AT DETROIT
The Blue Jays roared into first place in the American League East in April, a month in which they did not play a team in their division. They swept the Baltimore Orioles in the first three days of May, then lost eight consecutive games to AL East opponents. The Tigers are making a worst-to-first bid in the AL Central, and their starters have the lowest earned-run average in the league. Justin Verlander leads the league in strikeouts, former Dodger Edwin Jackson has a 2.58 ERA, rookie Rick Porcello is 6-3 with a 3.48 ERA and Dontrelle Willis is back, with his first consecutive quality starts in two years.
