Re “When a longtime giver was about to give up,” Column, May 31

Thank you, Steve Lopez, for that uplifting column on the dentists who believe in “giving back.”

And thank you to Drs. Kenneth Hirsch, Arnold Balber and James Jensvold for your pro bono work and your compassion and dignity that you allow others to have.

I am proud to say that Dr. Balber is my dentist, and he is a humble yet benevolent man.

I only recently found out all that he gives. He does charitable work but would never boast about it.
