Ducks, Stars try to get out of their ruts

Update: Hours after acquiring Ryan Whitney to solidify the defense, the Ducks were clobbered by Boston, 6-0. On Friday they recalled left wing Drew Miller from Iowa, sending down Brian Salcido, presumably to fortify the offense. They’ll see how that goes against another team stuck in a rut as the playoff race intensifies. The Stars have lost three in a row and cling to the eighth playoff spot. They’re tied with the Ducks with 65 points but have three games in hand. Loui Eriksson, a third-year left wing from Sweden, has emerged as the Stars’ leading goal scorer with 27 this season.
