It was great to finally see “North Dallas Forty” acknowledged as the “best football movie ever” [“First and 10,” Feb. 1]. I’ve always felt it was overlooked and under-appreciated, especially when it played in the theaters in 1979.
A film that deserved to be on your list is “All the Right Moves,” starring Tom Cruise, the late Chris Penn and Craig T. Nelson. Shot in football-mad Pennsylvania, that movie epitomized high school football -- pep rallies, arch-rivalries, house parties and star athletes striving to earn an athletic scholarship to better their and, hopefully, their parents’ lives.
