Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — Michael Brewer, the teenager set on fire in October, will spend Christmas with his family.
Friends said Tuesday that Brewer, 15, had been released from the hospital.
“He got his Christmas wish,” said Kelly Sheets, a family friend.
“He’s doing great, his spirit is in good condition,” she said, though he did once tell her, “It hurts.”
Brewer was burned on more than two-thirds of his body after authorities say he was attacked by a group of boys on Oct. 12. He has undergone three skin grafts.
Three teens have been charged as adults in the attack. Jesus Mendez, 16, Matthew Bent, 15, and Denver Jarvis, 15, are charged with attempted second-degree murder.
If convicted, they could face 30 years in prison.
Authorities say the teens surrounded Brewer in an apartment complex, poured rubbing alcohol on him and set him on fire.
