From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Tribune Co. will switch affiliation for its TV station in San Diego, KSWB-TV Channel 5, to Fox from the CW television network Aug. 1.
By becoming a Fox affiliate, Tribune should benefit from higher ratings generated by Fox’s more popular shows, including “House,” “Family Guy” and “American Idol.”
The CW, a joint venture between CBS Corp. and Warner Bros., has been struggling in the ratings. Chicago-based Tribune also owns KTLA-TV Channel 5 in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Times.
